York Certified Comfort Expert · Family-Owned Since 1969
Wally Falke’s has been a York dealer for years, and the Certified Comfort Expert designation means more than a logo on our truck: it’s a factory designation York gives contractors whose technicians hold NATE certification (the industry’s third-party standard) and complete York’s own product-specific training. We could partner with any manufacturer. We keep choosing York, and here’s why.
York Certified Comfort Expert (CCE): a factory designation for HVAC contractors whose technicians hold NATE certification and complete York product-specific training. Wally Falke’s Heating & Air Conditioning is a CCE dealer serving Turlock, Modesto, and the Central Valley.
One thing we want to be clear about: we install York because we trust it, but we service every major brand. If your current system is a Trane, Carrier, or anything else, we’re still your repair company. York parts are also stocked locally. The brand’s Central Valley distribution runs through Modesto, so a York repair rarely waits on a part shipped from across the country.
York has been making heating and cooling equipment since 1874, one of the oldest HVAC names in America, and York equipment has cooled some of America's most demanding buildings, including the U.S. Capitol.
York builds ENERGY STAR® qualified models across the lineup, not just at the top tier, so an efficient system doesn't have to mean the most expensive one.
The equipment is only half the outcome. CCE dealers are held to York's training standards, and premium warranty terms are tied to certified installation.
Registered York systems carry a 10-year parts limited warranty, with lifetime compressor coverage available on premium models and lifetime heat exchanger coverage on high-efficiency furnaces. Full detail below.
Four kinds of York equipment cover almost every home we work on. Each category links to the service page that handles sizing, cost, and installation details.

York split-system air conditioners run from the dependable single-stage LX Series to Affinity™ variable-speed models that reach 18+ SEER2. In our Valley climate, the step up from California's 14.3 SEER2 minimum to a two-stage or variable-speed system can make a major difference.

York furnaces run up to about 98% AFUE, with modulating burners and variable-speed blowers on the upper tiers. High-efficiency (90%+) models carry lifetime heat exchanger coverage when registered, which is the single biggest warranty difference in the furnace lineup.

York heat pumps heat and cool from one unit, and the premium Affinity models reach 20+ SEER2 with variable-capacity compressors that sip power in our mild winters. Pair one with a gas furnace and you get dual-fuel: electric efficiency most of the year, gas backup for Tule-fog mornings.

A packaged unit puts heating and cooling in one outdoor cabinet instead of a split system's separate indoor and outdoor components. That matters when there's no room for an indoor unit. Installation is typically faster than a split system, which can save on labor.
York’s residential lineup splits into two families: the value-focused LX Series and the premium Affinity™ Series.
Ratings Changed.
SEER became SEER2 in 2023 under a tougher federal test. If you’re comparing your old system’s “16 SEER” to a new “15.2 SEER2,” you’re comparing different scales; ask us to translate.
Refrigerant changed.
Current York systems use R-454B, the low-global-warming-potential refrigerant that replaced R-410A in 2025. New systems are already on the new refrigerant; aging R-410A systems will see refrigerant service costs climb.
Sizing is code, not opinion.
California Title 24 requires a Manual J load calculation when a replacement system is resized. We measure your home rather than matching the old unit’s tonnage.
Wally Falke’s Heating & Air Conditioning, a York Certified Comfort Expert dealer at 1575 Lander Ave in Turlock, installs and services York systems across Turlock, Modesto, Merced, Manteca, and the surrounding Central Valley. We’ve been family-owned since 1969.
York is alive and well. The Bosch Group acquired York’s residential HVAC business from Johnson Controls in August 2025 and manufactures the York lineup under the Bosch Home Comfort Group. The brand, dealer network, and factory warranties carried through the transition, and York equipment is still built around the same Affinity and LX series architecture.
LX is York’s value tier: single-stage and two-stage systems with solid efficiency at the lowest cost. Affinity is the premium tier: variable-speed compressors and communicating controls for quieter operation, better humidity control, and the lowest running costs. In Central Valley heat, the Affinity tier’s efficiency gap pays back faster than in milder climates.
We install York as a Certified Comfort Expert dealer because we trust the equipment and can stand behind the warranty terms. We service and repair all major brands, and if your situation calls for something York doesn’t make, we’ll tell you.
York has built heating and cooling equipment since 1874 and its equipment has cooled landmark buildings including the U.S. Capitol. Reliability in any brand, though, tracks installation quality more than the nameplate, which is why York ties its strongest warranty terms to Certified Comfort Expert installation. York’s practical advantage is value: comparable build quality and warranty terms to the premium-priced brands, at installed prices that typically come in below Trane, Carrier, or Lennox for equivalent specs.
Registered York residential equipment carries a 10-year parts limited warranty, with lifetime compressor coverage on qualifying premium models and lifetime heat exchanger coverage on high-efficiency furnaces. Registration has to happen within 90 days of installation, or coverage reverts to a shorter term. Wally Falke’s adds its Triple Trust Parts, Labor and Workmanship Guarantee and a one-year written money-back guarantee on new installs.
Yes. Current York residential systems use R-454B, the low-GWP refrigerant that replaced R-410A in the industry-wide 2025 transition. That matters for repair-or-replace decisions: refrigerant service on aging R-410A systems will get more expensive as supplies tighten.
It depends on the system type, size, efficiency tier, and your ductwork, which is why we quote from a free in-home estimate rather than a price list. Our AC installation and heating installation pages publish honest cost ranges for the Central Valley.
Equipment warranties are where HVAC companies get vague, so here’s the actual structure of what protects a York system installed by Wally Falke’s:
Installation done to the industry's highest standard and to California code, so it's right the first time.
We size your system with a load calculation, not a guess, so you get even cooling and lower bills, and never pay for tonnage you don't need.
The only Central Valley with a Triple Trust Parts, Labor and Workmanship Guarantee, plus a one-year money-back guarantee on every new system.
Third-generation business, an Angie's List Super Service Award winner and A+ Accredited BBB member, with a 4.9-star rating from 1,400+ reviews.
Central Valley summers run hot. In Turlock, Modesto, and across Stanislaus County, temperatures hold between 105 and 115°F for weeks, and a home’s AC carries that load for months at a time. That’s exactly why sizing matters here: an oversized system short-cycles and wears out early, while an undersized one never keeps up. California’s Title 24 energy code actually requires a Manual J load calculation when a replacement system is resized or the ductwork changes. It’s also what separates an honest quote from a cheap one: undersizing the system is how some companies shave their price, and it’s why those systems fail early in our heat.
California sits in the federal Southwest efficiency region, so the lowest-efficiency central AC we can legally install is 14.3 SEER2 (about 15 SEER). In a climate that runs the AC as hard as ours, stepping up from that minimum to a higher-SEER2 or variable-speed system pays back faster on summer bills than it would almost anywhere else. We pull the permit, install to code, and can point you to any current PG&E rebates your new system qualifies for. From our Turlock shop, we install new systems across Modesto, Turlock, Merced, Manteca, Ceres, Oakdale, Ripon, Riverbank, Patterson, and Los Banos.
Choose a packaged unit when there’s no practical indoor space for an air handler or furnace: the whole system lives in one outdoor cabinet, and installation is usually faster. If you have workable attic, closet, or garage space, a split system gives you more model options, including York’s highest-efficiency Affinity tiers.
In our mild winters a heat pump handles both heating and cooling from one unit, and premium York Affinity models reach 20+ SEER2. Homes with gas service can pair a heat pump with a gas furnace for dual fuel: electric efficiency most of the year, gas backup on cold Tule-fog mornings. We compare operating costs for both at your free estimate. See our heat pumps page for details.
California’s legal minimum for new central ACs is 14.3 SEER2, but Valley summers hold triple-digit heat for weeks, so cooling equipment here runs far more hours than in most climates. That’s why stepping up from the minimum to a two-stage or variable-speed system pays back faster on summer bills here than almost anywhere else.
York builds ENERGY STAR qualified models across the lineup, not just in the premium tier, so an efficient system doesn’t have to mean the most expensive one. Certification also matters for utility rebate eligibility. See our Energy Star HVAC page for how the certification works.
Plan on 12 to 15 years for an air conditioner or heat pump, and longer for a gas furnace. Valley summers work cooling equipment hard, which makes annual maintenance the biggest factor you control. Registered York systems carry a 10-year parts limited warranty, and our VIP Maintenance Plan keeps the system running at spec.
Yes. Qualifying homeowners can spread the cost of a new system over time instead of paying up front, and we’ll flag any current PG&E rebates the model you choose qualifies for. Ask about both during your free in-home estimate, and check our specials for seasonal offers.
